Thijs Sterk 1913 - 1982

The landscape of the province Noord Holland, especially the elements water and light, plays a major role in the paintings of Thijs Sterk. They refer frequently to locations in the region of Schoorl (where he lived) as well as to the region south of Amsterdam, where he was born in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel.
The themes in his work, wider than mentioned above, show a painter's life, a laborious life in which he gained artistically magnificent results.
